10-Day Kyrgyzstan Nomadic Adventure

Day 1 — Bishkek • Burana Tower • Chon-Kemin Valley Your adventure begins with a warm welcome from your guide and driver at Manas International Airport or your hotel in Bishkek. Leaving the capital behind, we travel to the historic Burana Tower, a remarkable monument connected to the ancient Silk Road city of Balasagun. Explore the tower, ancient stone carvings, and archaeological remains before continuing into the peaceful Chon-Kemin Valley. Surrounded by mountains, green valleys, and traditional villages, Chon-Kemin offers the perfect introduction to the natural beauty and rural lifestyle of Kyrgyzstan. Day 2 — Chon-Kemin • Son-Kul Lake After breakfast, our journey continues toward the high mountains and the spectacular Son-Kul Lake, situated at an altitude of 3,016 meters. The road takes you through dramatic mountain passes, wide valleys, and untouched landscapes. Upon arrival, take time to walk along the lakeshore, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and experience the peaceful atmosphere of a traditional nomadic settlement. You will have the opportunity to see yurts, horses, sheep, and other signs of everyday life on the jailoo. Overnight: Traditional yurt camp at Son-Kul. Day 3 — Son-Kul Lake • Nomadic Life & Horseback Riding Today is dedicated to experiencing the heart of Kyrgyz nomadic culture. After breakfast, set out on horseback across the vast jailoo, where horses and livestock roam freely beneath the surrounding mountain peaks. Ride through alpine meadows, discover beautiful viewpoints, and experience the landscape much as Kyrgyz nomads have done for generations. Along the way, learn about traditional customs, hospitality, and the seasonal lifestyle of families living in the high pastures. Overnight: Traditional yurt camp at Son-Kul. Day 4 — Son-Kul • Tash Rabat • Naryn Leaving Son-Kul behind, we travel south toward one of Kyrgyzstan's most fascinating historical treasures — Tash Rabat. Hidden among the mountains, this impressive stone caravanserai dates back to the medieval period and once served travelers crossing the ancient Silk Road. Explore the remarkably preserved structure and imagine the caravans that once passed through this remote mountain corridor. After visiting Tash Rabat, continue to Naryn, a colorful mountain town surrounded by dramatic landscapes. Overnight: Hotel in Naryn. Day 5 — Naryn • Southern Shore of Issyk-Kul • Bokonbaevo Today we head toward the legendary Issyk-Kul Lake, traveling through some of the most scenic areas of central Kyrgyzstan. As we approach the southern shore, the landscape gradually changes from high mountain valleys to the vast blue waters of Issyk-Kul, framed by the snow-covered peaks of the Tien Shan. Continue to the village of Bokonbaevo, known for its strong connection to traditional nomadic culture. Overnight: Guesthouse in Bokonbaevo. Day 6 — Bokonbaevo • Horseback Riding • Eagle Hunting & Folk Show Immerse yourself in one of Kyrgyzstan's most fascinating traditions. Begin the day with a horseback riding experience through the beautiful countryside around Bokonbaevo. Later, meet a local berkutchi, a traditional golden eagle hunter, and witness a spectacular demonstration of this ancient art. Discover how eagle hunting has been passed down through generations and learn about its important place in Kyrgyz nomadic heritage. The experience is complemented by traditional Kyrgyz folk music, giving you a deeper connection to the country's living culture. Overnight: Guesthouse in Bokonbaevo. Day 7 — Bokonbaevo • Skazka Canyon • Barskoon • Karakol Continue your journey along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul to the extraordinary Skazka Canyon, often called the "Fairy Tale Canyon." Its colorful clay and sandstone formations have been naturally sculpted by wind and water into unusual shapes and dramatic landscapes. The journey then continues to the beautiful Barskoon Valley, famous for its waterfalls, forests, rivers, and spectacular mountain scenery. In the afternoon, continue to Karakol, one of the cultural and adventure centers of eastern Kyrgyzstan. Overnight: Hotel in Karakol. Day 8 — Karakol • Altyn Arashan Trekking Adventure Today brings a memorable mountain adventure as we head toward the magnificent Altyn Arashan Valley. Trek through forests, mountain meadows, and along clear mountain rivers while enjoying spectacular views of the Tien Shan. The valley is famous for its untouched alpine scenery, dramatic peaks, and natural hot springs. After the trek, relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere surrounded by nature. Overnight: Guesthouse in Altyn Arashan. Day 9 — Altyn Arashan • Karakol City Tour After returning from Altyn Arashan, discover the cultural side of Karakol on a guided city tour. Visit the beautiful Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral, a historic wooden church, and the remarkable Dungan Mosque, famous for its colorful architecture and traditional construction without nails. Explore the local atmosphere of Karakol and learn about the diverse cultures that have shaped this unique region of Kyrgyzstan. Overnight: Hotel in Karakol. Day 10 — Karakol • Cholpon-Ata • Bishkek On the final day, travel along the northern shore of Issyk-Kul toward Cholpon-Ata. Here, visit the famous open-air Petroglyph Museum, where thousands of years of history are preserved in ancient rock carvings created by people who lived in the region long before the modern era. After exploring this fascinating archaeological site, continue your journey to Bishkek. Depending on your travel plans, we will transfer you to your hotel or to Manas International Airport.
